Privacy Policy
Last updated: June 2026
This policy explains what information StreamerTools collects through its website, Twitch Extensions, and the Device Controller desktop app (the "Services"), how we use it, and who we share it with. We aim to collect as little as possible — only what's needed to make the widgets work.
1. What we collect
From viewers using an extension
When you interact with a StreamerTools extension on a channel, Twitch provides us with an opaque viewer ID — a pseudonymous identifier that lets us recognize repeat interactions (for example, to enforce a per-viewer cooldown) without telling us who you are. We do not receive your Twitch username, real name, or email, because our extensions do not request access to your Twitch identity. We record interaction events, such as when a Bits-triggered activation occurs, to operate the widget.
From streamers
When you set up and use the Services, we collect:
- Your Twitch channel identifier and display name, and account information provided when you sign in through Twitch;
- The configuration you set — for example, which connected device a widget controls, how long it activates, the Bits amount, the cooldown, and the button label;
- Names of devices detected on your local network through the Device Controller app, so you can choose which one a widget controls;
- Records of activations and Bits transactions processed through your channel, used to operate the widget and for accounting.
Collected automatically
Like most online services, our servers automatically log technical information when the Services make requests, including IP address, timestamps, and basic device/request metadata. We use this to operate, secure, and debug the Services.
2. How we use it
We use the information above to:
- Operate the widgets — route a Bits-triggered action to the right channel and device;
- Enforce per-viewer cooldowns and prevent abuse or fraud;
- Maintain, secure, troubleshoot, and improve the Services;
- Communicate with you about support or service changes;
- Comply with legal obligations.
We do not use this information to build advertising profiles, and we do not sell it.
3. How we share it
We share information only as needed to run the Services:
- Twitch — the platform the Services run on. Twitch provides the opaque viewer ID and operates Bits. Your use of Twitch is governed by Twitch's own privacy notice.
- Infrastructure providers — cloud hosting and content-delivery providers that store data and serve the Services on our behalf, under agreements that limit their use of it.
- Your connected device — when a widget activates, the action is sent to the smart plug on your own network. We don't control that hardware.
- Legal & safety — where required by law, or to protect the rights, safety, and security of the Services and their users.
We do not sell your personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.
4. Bits & payments
Twitch Bits are operated entirely by Twitch. When a viewer uses Bits through a widget, Twitch handles the transaction and any payment. We never receive payment card numbers or financial account details. We receive only a record that a Bits transaction occurred so the widget can act on it.
5. Retention & deletion
We keep information only as long as needed to provide the Services, support you, and meet legal or accounting requirements, after which we delete or anonymize it. When a streamer uninstalls an extension or stops using the Device Controller app, we stop collecting information tied to that use. You can ask us to delete information associated with your account at any time (see Your rights).
6. Cookies
Our extensions run inside Twitch's framework and do not set their own advertising or tracking cookies. Our website uses only what's necessary for it to function. Twitch and your browser may set their own cookies, governed by their respective policies.
7. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or port the personal information we hold about you, and to object to or restrict certain processing. To make a request, email privacy@streamertools.fyi. We'll respond within the time required by applicable law. Because viewer IDs are pseudonymous and we don't hold viewer usernames, we may need additional information to locate records tied to you.
8. Children
The Services are not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your region), and we do not knowingly collect their personal information. Twitch requires its own minimum age to use the platform. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we'll delete it.
9. Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect information, including encryption in transit. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure, so we can't guarantee absolute security.
10. Changes
We may update this policy as the Services evolve. We'll revise the "Last updated" date above and, for material changes, make them clear here. Your continued use of the Services after changes take effect means you accept the updated policy.
